Creative Imitation

It may sound like an oxymoron creative imitation, but it refers to a time proven business strategy whereby you wait for somebody else to do or establish the viability of something like a marketing strategy then you improve upon it or utilize it.

Arrows In Back

In other words, someone else has taken the arrow to his/her back. Someone else is planted face down, because they’ve done all the pioneer work. Someone else has plowed the ground and done all the heavy lifting for you.

For example, Nicola Tesla invented the A/C current. He didn’t creatively imitate, he invented. Thomas Edison creatively imitated, so Thomas died as a multi-millionaire and Tesla died broke. Why, because it’s better to improve than to invent.

Charles Haanel is the father of personal development. He was before the time of Napoleon Hill. In fact, there are letters that have been marked in history going between Napoleon Hill and Charles Haanel before Hill ever wrote the book Think and Grow Rich.

Charles Haanel was an inventor. He invented the personal development movement with his master key system. He also wrote a book called Mental Chemistry; look him up on Google.

As far as I know he didn’t die broke, but he did die in obscurity. No one says he’s the father of personal development and he’s nowhere near as popular as Napoleon Hill. Hill was the improver. He creatively imitated Charles Haanel.

Apple and Microsoft

Steve Jobs; if it weren’t for the iPod Steve would be obscure, because Apple was in dire trouble before the iPod. In fact, he was fired from Apple. He invented the Windows Operating System as far as I’m concerned. The Apple operating system is superior and is what caused Bill Gates to create Windows ‘95.

Bill Gates got his idea from Steve Jobs. In fact, if you’ve had an old McIntosh that operating system isn’t much different than Windows ‘95. Windows ‘95 put Bill Gates on the map, because it was easy, iconic and no longer a difficult operating system that many had seen in the PC world before.

That marked the difference between McIntosh and the PC, but where Steve focused on equipment, Bill focused on software. Steve Jobs was the inventor. He was known for his invention or his creativity. Creative isn’t enough. Imitating creativity is.

In fact, it’s more than enough because you become wealthy that’s what Bill Gates did, he creatively imitates. He got a lot of flack for it, but who cares he became the richest man in the world and has stayed at that level until just recently; he’s number three currently.

Warren Buffet is number one at the time of this recording, why, because he’s a better and creatively imitates other wealthy people and the buying habits of stocks, bonds and securities.

Creative Imitation Makes You Wealthy

Creative imitation makes you wealthy. There’s nothing sexy about being original and broke that’s how Tesla died. There’s nothing sexy about being creative and dying in obscurity where no one knows you and you’re not famous.

Charles Haanel didn’t die famous. I will tell you that Bill Gates read a lot of Haanel’s work and he attributes in some of the readings I’ve had; many of his successes to Charles Haanel. But it’s Napoleon Hill’s association with Andrew Carnegie, at that time the richest man in the world and the world’s first billionaire. It’s Napoleon Hill who is famous for personal development.

The iPod

Steve Jobs is now famous because of the iPod. What is the iPod? Steve Jobs creatively imitated other things that came before.

What he did was he took those ideas, a hard drive and something that plays something portable, audio initially, but now video and through creative imitation an iPod is in the hand of almost every American in the U.S. I believe over 60 million iPods have been sold.

There’s more than one sold every minute, but it’s because Steve Jobs imitated creatively when he was with Apple. When he was with Apple initially before he got fired he didn’t creatively imitate, he created and Bill Gates imitated him.

Any time Bill Gates tries to create he falls flat on his face, so creative imitation is how to make money.

Pioneers have arrows in their backs, but the creative imitators do not.

The Wolf In Sheep's Clothing

Aesop in his wolf in sheep’s clothing, if you’ve ever read Aesop’s fables, the moral of that story is to strike while the iron is hot. The wolf was eaten, because the farmer thought he was sheep as he was dressed in sheep’s clothing and the wolf didn’t pounce on the sheep when he could.

He waited, because he wanted all the sheep not just one, but because he waited and didn’t strike when the iron was hot when the farmer came late at night to get a meal for his family the farmer thought he was getting sheep, but he instead got wolf.

Strike when the iron’s hot

A good plan executed today is better than a perfect plan that’s too late. Speed is of the essence accelerate it. Speed money is important. Everyone can make a million bucks it’s making a million bucks faster so you can save it and have it to spend that’s the difference; that’s what a millionaire is.

A good plan executed today is better than a perfect one that’s too late, so strike when the iron’s hot and creatively imitate. The reason it’s difficult to strike when the iron is hot if you’re creative is because you don’t know when the iron is hot.

If you have no competition and the easiest way to find out if you have competition is to go to Google and find out. If there’s anyone else who has what you have that’s great that means there’s a market for it. You want to be a creative imitator.

ClickBank

If you go to ClickBank.com I’ll show you a great way to creatively imitate. This may change your life. If you go to ClickBank and click on the link that says buy products, what you’ll see are a list of categories.

You’ll see categories like:

Business to business

Health and fitness

Home and family

Computing and Internet

Money and employment

Marketing and ads

Fun and entertainment

Sports and recreation

Society and culture

Right there you can creatively imitate what ClickBank has learned, because those are major categories and there’s a reason for it. I’m going to click on health and fitness. Right away, because it’s an affiliate network in the health and fitness category it will give me the top 10 sellers in that category.

A top 10 seller I’m looking at is:

Fat loss for idiots

Top secret fat loss

Truth about six pack abs

Turbulence training

Burn fat, feed the muscle

Twelve hour cure for a yeast infection

The power of conversational hypnosis

Chopper tattoos

Tattoo me now

No nonsense muscle building

So if you click on any category at ClickBank you’ll see the top 10 websites.

I’m going to click on the first one I see. I’m going to look at a website that’s number one. Can I not creatively imitate that website? Of course I can. What if I go to number three, truth about six packs and I had a how-to course on how to get six pack abs.

I would go to the page that’s number three in ClickBank and I would read that website. The one I’m looking at says five facts you must understand if you’re ever going to lose your belly fat and get six pack abs and it gives me the five.

It says men click here and women click here at the very bottom. What a concept they’re actually separating men from women. Is it possible that’s why they’re number three on ClickBank? Creatively imitate. You’ll go broke trying to find this out on your own and that’s just for health and fitness.

It could be for any category, so go to ClickBank.com and learn; creatively imitate.

Enjoy the interview as there is lots of great content. As Tara describes it, "Licensing" is a way of generating income from your art. Instead of selling originals or selling your designs outright, many artists will grant the right (license) to use their art on a specific product, for a set time period in exchange for a percentage of sales. This percentage is called a royalty. By licensing your art, you have the potential to earn income on the same art piece or collection several times.

Spectacular Presentations

I could go on and on about what spectacular presentations are. It’s a concept that I (Alex Mandossian ) named, but it’s a concept that was created, invented, improved and innovated by Pat and Lorna Shanks.

Simply put if you go to SpectacularPresentations.com, you can get that done for you or you can do it for yourself. I recommend you get it done for you by Pat and Lorna Shanks. They utilize a system called Articulate, which is a Flash presentation technology. It’s very complicated to use in my view so I prefer to have it done for me.

They will be teaching a course on how to do it, but I much prefer to pay them to do it for me, it puts video to your voice.

How can you benefit? If you have a published speech and you’ve recorded it you can have a video presentation where you have handouts or video representations of what you're saying on audio. It’s not just a talking head, it’s video showing study guides, pictures and what you're speaking about.

Even if you have a public speech you can take the audio and turn it into a spectacular presentation online. There are a lot of cool features to it and it has a lot of references. With one click you can get a glossary, one click you can go anywhere on the web.

It’s a very powerful modality. It’s innovative, it is inventive and that’s why it will take time to take a firm hold in the marketplace.

Go there and learn more about it. I use it for teleseminars. When I have a teleseminar and I have a study guide then this right now could be a spectacular presentation. Now if you don’t see something, you're taking notes, what if you saw the spectacular presentation of this?

When I was talking earlier about Aesop’s Fables with the wolf in sheep’s clothing, what if there was a spectacular presentation? What if there were words popping up like I was saying, like all the world-class questions? What don’t I see? What if that came up?

That’s a spectacular presentation, so go to SpectacularPresentations.com and you’ll get a taste of it.

First Question You Should Ask Yourself…

E-learning with teleseminars gives you audio content that you can repurpose into many other information products, such as spectacular presentations, e-books, special reports, and videos. Let us explain…

Plan your teleseminar with the goal of repurposing it into different forms of e-learning later. If you ask yourself how you’ll repurpose it, you’ll come up with answers that may be different than what your original content included, so that’s where you want to start.

If you want 12 blog posts, then you may have 12 strategies instead of 10. If you want four articles then you may have four major techniques, because you can turn each one into its own article. It’s certainly easy to expand on each one to make it a standalone article, because you’ll be using examples and more details.

What we want you to do is start thinking of how you’re going to repurpose before you start speaking in a teleseminar, before the spoken word is utilized. By doing so you begin with the end in mind asking, “What am I going to repurpose this teleseminar into?”

That’s the important question that will make sure you cover content in your call to give you the text, after you have it transcribed, to turn into all those other forms of e-learning.

Information marketing is simply getting your information out there in as many forms as possible so more people can find you and learn from you. Teleseminars are the easiest place to start, so plan them well in advance so you have the content you need to turn it into other e-learning products.

If you make $1 from any business activity it is no longer a hobby. If you make no money from something; let's say you're knitting, writing, blogging or going online and marketing, but you haven't made any money, and therefore you are an amateur.

An amateur can mean something good or bad, but at the same time whether it's good or bad doesn't matter. You haven't made any money so you haven't turned pro. You're a hobbyist, you haven't turned pro. You may be able to offset some of those expenses for tax reasons, because you have the intention of making $1 or turning pro.

In the United States the IRS feels that's a good enough reason to write off expenses. If you intend to make a profit, but if you make zero money you haven't turned pro. The amount of money you have to make to turn pro in my opinion is $1.

I want you to visually and mentally imagine a horizontal bar or (x) axis. It's going from left to right, so in your mind's eye look at it from the very left at the starting point and that's called the idea. Let's say it goes 12 inches across and it's the size of a ruler.

Now imagine from idea, which is at the very beginning of the ruler in U.S. terms in zero inches to $1 going to the right along the continuum is about eight inches. Eight-twelfths or four-sixths or two-thirds of the energy from idea to turning pro is making that first dollar.

All the systems that had to be put into place, all the bandwidth that's necessary, to teams, everything that needs to happen for you to make that $1 requires a lot of energy. In my opinion, if you had a ruler in front of you; from idea to $1, turning pro takes about eight inches of the ruler's 12.

From inch eight to inch twelve that's the difference between $1 and one million dollars. Most people shoot for the million dollars; how to become a millionaire is said most often. That to me isn't what I shoot for. My goal is to turn pro. My goal is to make $1 from any business activity and that should also be your goal.

If there were any should in this training that would be it. Turning pro is making your first dollar. And you want to make your first dollar the fastest, because it's the most confidence-inducing activity in the world. It takes largely two-thirds; at least half of all your energy to go from idea to $1. It only takes another third to go from $1 to a million.

This is my experience and what I know to be true. I hope you'll follow my advice.

What does it mean to turn pro? It means to make $1 in any business activity and you've just been converted from an amateur to a professional.

Well, what is really interesting is that Alex also sent an email to one of his lists called the Wednesday Minute, and we are asking for your help…

Here is a copy of the email that he sent out…

WEDNESDAY ~ December 17th, 2008

It's time for the Wednesday Minute — the weekly audio/video magazine for electronic marketers.

The topic of this week's edition is:

"Why 'Progress' Exceeds Perfection"
http://AlexMandossian.com <— See Dec. 17th video post

In today's edition, I'm conducting a little experiment and I hope you participate with candid feedback.

Here's the thing:

I'm tinkering with changing the Wednesday Minute format from just "audio" to "Online Video."

It's a special type of Online Video called "Spectacular Presentations" and I think it adds more value to
learning than traditional "talking head" video presentations.

But I want YOU to be the judge…

Watch this video on my 12/17 blog post and leave a comment to tell me what you think. OK?

http://AlexMandossian.com <— See Dec. 17th video post

If I get positive feedback on the the new format, I'll continue to utilize it on other Wed. Minutes.

Good Sales,

Alex Mandossian
CEO & Founder
http://HeritageHousePublishing.com

If you like the Spectacular Presentation (a copy can be viewed further down on this post), we are asking that you please make a comment on Alex's blog telling him that you enjoy this format. Here is that blog entry again => Here's Why "Progress" Exceed Perfection

Thanks for your help, we look forward to creating more of these.

Repurpose Into A Online Video

With a teleseminar, first you can do it without any editing. All you do is take the audio from the teleseminar, put pictures to it, which becomes an online video that’s one way.

Another way is you can have different pictures to it dynamically and there could be a video tutorial, which is called a Spectacular Presentation.

That’s what Pat and Lorna Shanks do, so if you go to SpectacularPresentations.com you can see what that looks like utilizing the Articulate software or any other type of flash software where you have someone creating the presentation for you. It’s somewhat like Camtasia, but it’s a bit different.

There’s video, where there’s a video movie video then there’s video where you take the spoken word and put a spectacular presentation to it and the spectacular presentation becomes the video that’s not even touched. The spoken word remains the same it’s the presenter that’s making all the difference in creating that video.

It’s an online video you’re watching, but it’s not a video like a movie video it’s like a screen capture video and you’re seeing things on the screen.

You can capture all kinds of things from it. Pictures from the net, but the audio is running the voice, which hasn’t been changed and you’re adding power by adding the video. How do you use something like that such as a Spectacular Presentation, which is one form of online video?

There are many forms to this question. Question #28, is how do I repurpose into online video? One of the ways is by taking the audio and putting a still picture on it, which you can put on YouTube that’s a video. If it changes pictures now you have a video of dynamic and you just have audio playing to it and it’s the same audio.

Another type is constantly changing screen capture and that is what Spectacular Presentations are. How do you use a spectacular presentation? I like using it for a quick start program. If I have audio I traditionally only use audio with my quick start program, but some people may misinterpret what I’m saying verbally.

What if they lose me along the way?

What if they stop following me auditorily?

They can veg out that’s one of the challenges with audio is that you can veg out with audio. It’s a lot more difficult to veg out with video, so you have to pay attention even if you’re vegging out in front of the TV to understand what’s happening.

You can veg out with audio though, because it’s passive; not as active.

If you turn into a semi-vegetable, because you’re zoning out and not paying attention then a video with changing pictures isn’t as powerful or an audio without pictures is nowhere near as powerful as a spectacular presentation where you have changing pictures, which are screen capture and it’s a video visual tutorial of your audio portion of it.

It’s very powerful for quick start, because with quick starts you have children. A quick start is getting started with a certain information product. Every information product, every book, every how-to course and every business that has information as a selling means should have a quick start.

How do I get started?

How do I get started with this consulting firm?

How do I get started with this contest?

How do I get started with this coach?

How do I get started reading this book?

How do I get started listening to this audio program?

How do I get started reading this how-to course?

What about this eBook…how do I get started?

Or the mini eCourse… how do I get started?

Getting started is critical. And if you get someone started, something that’s in motion stays in motion it’s the laws of physics. Therefore, you want to get people started and the fastest way to do that is with a quick start that’s why they call it a quick start.

When you have a quick start, the best quick start is having audio you’ve already uttered in a teleseminar then adding video to it that’s in the form of a flash video, a spectacular presentation, not a digital video of things and things on the screen, talking heads, but actual screen shots like Camtasia only you can bring new things into it.

You could bring in reports, executive summaries, action guides, websites, glossary of terms or any other learning assets you have to teach people. Maybe you can have a P & L statement. It’s a lot easier explaining a P & L statement when you have arrows pointing to certain line items.

That’s called a Spectacular Presentation or Camtasia presentation versus just having a regular presentation that’s audio and giving them a screen capture that’s not dynamic, but is static and they have to follow your voice.

It’s easier if you show and tell and involve them, with a grab their mouse to go to the next stage that’s how I would teach versus just giving them audio content. At the lowest level as far as getting them involved there’s audio, tell me. If you just tell them they’ll forget.

Then show me; show me and I may remember that’s where you show them with the video and auditory combined. Then involve me, which is where you involve them with the mouse and they have to keep clicking to move on. Now as they’re involved they have the visual, auditory, kinesthetic and digital-audio working for them.

You have that working in your favor neuro-linguistically, because if you tell me something I will forget it, if you just tell me. If you show it to me like a video tutorial I may remember it, but if you involve me with it I will learn.

You want to get your students, consulting clients, coaching clients and readers involved. The more involved you get with the senses the better. That’s why lots of people love physical books; because they’re kinesthetic you can hold them. You can’t hold a digital PDF unless you hold your flat screen computer or keyboard.

You can’t hold it. That’s why this new thing called the Kindle is so cool, because it’s a physical book. It’s more powerful than an eBook, you can download it and you kinesthetically can push buttons and take a look at things.

How do you repurpose online videos? You repurpose them by starting with a teleseminar and taking your voice and adding video and motion to it. And then another way that you can repurpose, it’s a lot more work, take your audio content and turn that into a video.

Examples of this are at AlexYouTube.com. Examples of this are at VirtualBookTourSecrets.com/blog . These are actual videos taken with a high definition digital recorder, and they’re tips that are given as a result of getting great feedback on audio content, specifically audio teleseminars, one of which is called repurposing.

When you get good feedback on a topic then you can turn that into a video. However, it’s more work. What I prefer is to have my voice, put a video flash presentation in front of that, and I’ve just done all the work I needed to do.

Less work, more money that’s better.

21 Uses of Spectacular Presentations

Some of our prospective clients see the benefit of using Spectacular Presentations, but aren’t quite sure “how” one of these presentations can be used in their business. So we put together this list of “The Top 21 uses of Spectacular Presentations” to fully answer that “how”.

Number 1: Presentations
Sounds fairly obvious, but yes… for making a presentation they work extremely well.
An example would be a stage presentation or seminar that you’ve done in the past and want to use it to “Engage Your new Audience and have them Experience Your Message”. These presentations can be delivered robotically over and over again. So take your best presentation and make it Spectacular.

Number 2: Course Previews
Online and offline courses can be previewed in a Spectacular Presentation. Highlight what the course teaches, and peak the interest of the prospective student.

Number 3: 52 Week Coaching
Automatic delivery of a weekly Spectacular Presentation can be used as an ongoing coaching tool. Our good friend Alex Mandossian has used this concept for his TeleSeminar Secrets course. If you want to learn more or see his 52 Week Coaching program in action then visit Alex at www.ToTeleseminarSecrets.com

Number 4: Converted Teleseminars
Recorded teleseminars are perfect for being converted into Spectacular Presentations. The “listener” will get more out of it through the added visuals and user control. Our friend Alex Mandossian has used this concept for his Action Secrets telesemianar.

Number 5: Viral Marketing
Do something different… do something that gets people buzzing… then put it online in a Spectacular Presentation. Peak their interest then demonstrate what your business has to offer.

Number 6: Prospecting
Demonstrate to prospects what your business has to offer through the visuals of a Spectacular Presentation. This will create a more compelling and lasting impression in their minds than text or audio alone.

Number 7: Affiliate Marketing
Create your marketing message once and all your affiliates can use it again and again; a powerful marketing tool for your affiliates to use.

Number 8: Traffic Generation
From within a Spectacular Presentation, live links can redirect the viewer to a promotional or affiliate web site, a sales page, or any other site that the presenter desires.

Number 9: E-Coaching
What better way to coach than to be able to visually demonstrate the methods and techniques spoken of within the coaching session.

Number 10: “How-To” Course
Showing “how to” is extremely more effective than telling “how to”. A Spectacular Presentation is the show and tell of “how to” education.

Number 11: Quick Start Training
Training can begin at any time. Whenever the student is ready, the training can be delivered instantly. Start now… learn now. For any new student starting any NEW course the most asked question is “How or where do I start?” Give them that answer, make your courses easy to consume. You’ll get less refund requests but more importantly you’ll get happier students, engaged and using your courses.

Number 12: Expert Interview
Having an expert interview delivered as a Spectacular Presentation is a great way for the audience to really “get to know” the expert. There’s the intimacy of hearing their voice, but even more intimacy with being able to put a face to that voice.

Number 13: Public Web Critiques
The actual web page can be displayed with notes, pointers, callouts, etc. As well, sections of the web page can be isolated or enlarged to allow the reviewer to focus in on them. It is so much easier to be able to see what they are talking about rather than having to try and follow a description of what they are talking about.

Number 14: Affiliate Training
What a great way to train affiliates. They all get trained the same way, see the exact same information, and then can use the same presentation in their affiliate campaign. Basically it is “Robotic training”.

Number 15: Inner Circle Training
The Inner Circle is the “elite” clients of any business. The are your Evangelists. Give them something a little more special than simple audio training. Allow them more vivid and in-depth training with a Spectacular Presentation.

Number 16: Free Bonus Training
With free bonuses, the value is dependent on what the client perceives it as. By adding visuals and graphics to audio training, the perceived value of the “free” training increases.

Number 17: New Client Introduction
Introduce prospective new clients to your business. Introduce them to what you do, and how you can help them solve their problem. Also, you can state any requirements you may have for working with a new client and what their initial investment will be. This will save you and them a lot of time in getting to understand what’s involved in a business relationship with you. You can both see if there is a fit between you and them to create this new relationship. If you would like to see our New Client Introduction and our requirements of working with us then please visit www.SpectacularPresentations.com/newclient

Number 18: Tips and Tricks
Save time for clients, employees, etc. by showing them tips and tricks. With a spectacular presentation, they will be able to actually see how it’s done, and you won’t have to be hovering over their shoulder to show them.

Number 19: Live Seminar Follow-up
After you’ve made a presentation at a live seminar, and it’s been recorded, you can roll it out into a spectacular presentation. It gives you a product to sell… a kind of “remember this point” or “since you weren’t there” type of product. It’s a great tool for seminar follow-up or for people who couldn’t be there.

Number 20: Frequently Asked Questions
People get a huge benefit from listening to others get answers to their questions. They find out things that they never thought of asking, or answers to questions that they had as well. Putting FAQ’s into a presentation enables people to get the benefit of listening to others questions, being able to see graphics that show them the answers and clicking on links that take them to solutions.

Number 21: Limited Only by Your Imagination
The ideas of how to use a spectacular presentation are almost endless. Whatever you can imagine, you can create. A spectacular presentation is a great tool to use in your business for training, marketing, information and bonus gifts. These presentations can be delivered robotically, Faster, Better and with the least amount of Human Effort.
